Get to Know Me
As a qualified counsellor I am passionate about helping people create healthier, more fulfilling lives, especially when it comes to changing their relationship with alcohol. My work is grounded not only in professional training, but also in almost two decades of personal sobriety — an experience that gives me a deep, genuine understanding of the courage and vulnerability involved in making meaningful change.
In my practice, I offer a warm, down‑to‑earth, and non‑judgemental space where you can explore what’s happening in your life at a pace that feels right for you. I don’t believe in labels or one‑size‑fits‑all solutions.
Instead, I focus on practical, evidence‑based approaches such as solution‑focused counselling, trauma‑informed care, and dual diagnosis support when mental health and alcohol use overlap. Together, we look at what’s working, what you want to shift, and the small, achievable steps that can help you move toward the life you want.
Because I’ve walked my own path of recovery, I understand the fears, doubts, and pressures that can come with changing long‑held habits. I also know the relief, clarity, and confidence that come with finding your footing again. My lived experience doesn’t replace professional expertise, but it does allow me to meet you with empathy, honesty, and a deep respect for your journey.
Whether you’re wanting to cut back, take a break, or make a bigger shift and quit, I’m here to support you with compassion, practical tools, and a belief in your capacity to grow. You don’t have to navigate this alone — and you deserve support that feels safe, respectful, and genuinely helpful.

How It Works
PRIVATE + PERSONALISED

Solution Focused
Solution‑focused counselling is a practical, future‑oriented approach that helps you identify your strengths, resources, and the small steps that can move you toward your preferred future. Instead of analysing problems in depth, it focuses on what’s already working, what’s possible, and what change would look like. You and I work together to build clear, achievable goals and explore solutions that fit your life, values, and abilities, making the process empowering, hopeful, and grounded in real‑world progress.

Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis counselling is a specialised approach that supports people experiencing both a mental health condition and alcohol or other drug‑related challenges at the same time. Instead of treating each issue separately, it recognises how closely they interact — for example, how anxiety might increase drinking, or how drinking might worsen depression. This provides integrated, coordinated support that helps you understand the connection between your symptoms, build healthier coping strategies, and work toward recovery in a way that feels realistic, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs.

Trauma Informed
I use a Trauma‑informed counselling approach that recognises the widespread impact of trauma and prioritises emotional safety, choice, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process. Instead of asking “What’s wrong with you?”, it gently explores “What happened to you?” and how past experiences may be influencing current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, like drinking. This style of counselling focuses on building trust, reducing triggers, supporting regulation of the nervous system, and helping you regain a sense of control and resilience at a pace that feels safe for you.
